APPLE – STITCHING INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 01

Mark the center of the kitchen towel along its length (side edge).

STEP 02

Hoop the tear-away stabilizer.

STEP 03

Load the Apple design into the embroidery machine.
Stitch the first color, which will create the placement lines for the kitchen towel and the stem.

STEP 04

On the front and back of the hoop, place the brown quilting cotton fabric measuring 3 × 4 cm (1.18 × 1.57 in) (Stem) over the stem placement line.
Secure both pieces with masking tape.

BACK VIEW


STEP 05

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the materials in place (tack-down stitch).

STEP 06

Trim away the excess fabric from both the front and back of the project.

STEP 07

Replace both the upper thread and the bobbin thread with the thread color selected for the stem satin stitch finishing.

STEP 08

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the satin stitch finishing for the stem.

STEP 09

Position the kitchen towel flush with and centered on the placement line created in the first step.

STEP 10

Secure the top edge of the kitchen towel with masking tape.
Insert fine pins along both sides and the bottom edge, placing them as close to the hoop frame as possible.

STEP 11

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the kitchen towel in place and create the placement line for the apple.

STEP 12

Place the red quilting cotton fabric measuring 11 × 11 cm (4.33 × 4.33 in) (Apple) over the apple placement line.
Secure it with masking tape.

STEP 13

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the fabric in place (tack-down stitch).
Continue stitching the next seven color sequences.

RESULT


STEP 14

Place the green polka dot quilting cotton fabric measuring 5 × 5 cm (1.97 × 1.97 in) (Face) over the face placement line.
Secure it with masking tape.
Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the fabric in place (tack-down stitch).
Continue stitching the next two color sequences.

TACK-DOWN STITCH


EMBROIDERY


STEP 15

Remove the hoop from the embroidery machine.
Trim away the excess Face fabric.
Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the satin stitch finishing for the Face, followed by the highlight on the apple.

SATIN STITCH FINISHING & HIGHLIGHT


STEP 16

On the back of the hoop, place the red quilting cotton fabric measuring 11 × 11 cm (4.33 × 4.33 in) (Apple).
Secure it with masking tape.

STEP 17

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the fabric in place (tack-down stitch) and create the circular placement line.

STEP 18

Trim away the excess fabric from both the front and back of the project.

BACK VIEW


STEP 19

Using a seam ripper, make a small opening inside the circle on both the front and back of the project.
Then, using fine-point scissors, carefully trim around the inside of the circle.
Take care not to cut the tear-away stabilizer hooped in the embroidery hoop.

Carefully cut the kitchen towel fabric inside the circle.
Be careful not to cut the tear-away stabilizer in the hoop.

STEP 21

Replace both the upper thread and the bobbin thread with the thread color selected for the circle satin stitch finishing.

STEP 22

Stitch the satin stitch finishing for the circle.
Continue stitching the leaf placement line.

RESULT


STEP 23

Place the green polka dot quilting cotton fabric measuring 6 × 5 cm (2.36 × 1.97 in) (Leaf) over the leaf placement line.
Secure it with masking tape.

STEP 24

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the fabric in place (tack-down stitch).
Continue stitching the next color sequence, which will embroider the leaf details.

STEP 25

On the back of the hoop, place the second piece of green polka dot quilting cotton fabric (Leaf).
Secure it with masking tape.

STEP 26

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the fabric in place (tack-down stitch).

STEP 27

Trim away the excess fabric from both the front and back of the project.

BACK VIEW


STEP 28

Replace both the upper thread and the bobbin thread with the thread color selected for the finishing.
Stitch the satin stitch finishing around the outline of the apple.

RESULT


STEP 29

Replace both the upper thread and the bobbin thread once again with the thread color selected for the finishing.
Stitch the satin stitch finishing around the outline of the leaf.

STEP 30

Remove the hoop from the embroidery machine.
Take the project out of the hoop.
Tear away the tear-away stabilizer.
Cut the placement stitches remaining on the stabilizer inside the circle and remove the remaining stabilizer.
Clean up the embroidery by trimming any loose threads.

DONE!

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the fabric in place (tack-down stitch).
Continue stitching the grape cluster details.

STEP 22

On the back of the hoop, place the second piece of purple quilting cotton fabric measuring 9 × 10 cm (3.54 × 3.94 in) (Grape Cluster).
Secure it with masking tape.

STEP 23

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the next color, which will secure the fabric in place (tack-down stitch) and create the circular placement line.

STEP 24

Trim away the excess fabric from both the front and back of the project.

STEP 25

Using a seam ripper, make a small opening inside the circle on both the front and back of the project.
Then, using fine-point scissors, carefully trim around the inside of the circle.
Take care not to cut the tear-away stabilizer hooped in the embroidery hoop.

Carefully cut the kitchen towel fabric inside the circle.
Be careful not to cut the tear-away stabilizer in the hoop.

STEP 27

Replace both the upper thread and the bobbin thread with the thread color selected for the grape cluster satin stitch finishing.

STEP 28

Return the hoop to the embroidery machine.
Stitch the final color sequence of the design, completing the satin stitch finishing for the grape cluster.

STEP 29

Remove the hoop from the embroidery machine.
Take the project out of the hoop.
Tear away the tear-away stabilizer.
Cut the placement stitches remaining on the stabilizer inside the circle and remove the remaining stabilizer.
Clean up the embroidery by trimming any loose threads.
