      Step by Step: 3D Butterflies in the Garden

      In the heart of a garden, vibrant flowers bloom, creating a natural spectacle of beauty and life. Among them, butterflies stand out like little winged jewels, floating with lightness and grace. Their delicate wings, often in metallic tones or with exuberant patterns, add a touch of enchantment, as if they were guardians of the garden?s beauty.

      The garden thus becomes a meeting place for nature in its fullness, where flowers and butterflies intertwine in an eternal cycle of renewal and enchantment.

      MATERIALS USED

      01 – Polyester embroidery threads for machine embroidery
      02 – Stabilizer, in this tutorial we use water-soluble stabilizer
      03 – Organza fabric pieces
      04 – Pearlescent paper (optional)
      05 – Masking tape
      06 – Embroidery hoop
      07 – Scissors for cutting and trimming
      08 – Bobbins with thread in the same color as the outline, and bobbin thread

      STEP BY STEP

      Step 01

      - Place the stabilizer and the organza in the hoop. Take it to the machine to stitch the placement line for the pearlescent paper.

      Step 02

      - Trim any excess threads from the placement stitching.

      Step 03

      - Cut a piece of pearlescent paper larger than the placement area. Position it over the placement line and secure with masking tape.

      Step 04

      - Trim the excess pearlescent paper.

      Step 05

      - This is the result after removing the excess paper and threads.

      Step 06

      - Change the bobbin thread to the same color as the top embroidery thread.

      Step 07

      - Embroidery completed.

      Step 08

      - Remove from the hoop and cut out the butterflies with scissors.

      Step 09

      - Using fine-point scissors (curved or straight), trim around the butterflies leaving 2 millimeters of fabric. Be careful not to cut the embroidery stitches.

      Step 10

      - This is the result of the trimmed butterflies.

      Step 11

      - To remove the water-soluble stabilizer, soak the butterflies in water so that the stabilizer dissolves. If desired, you can gently rub the butterflies with your fingertips to help dissolve the stabilizer.

      Step 12

      - Remove the excess water by placing the butterflies on a dry towel. Let them dry completely before using.

      Step 13

      - Done! The wings for the 3D butterflies are ready to be applied to your project.

      Step 14

      - Hoop the stabilizer of your choice and stitch the embroidery steps until it’s time to embroider the butterfly body. Position the 3D butterfly wings over the embroidered butterflies, or if you are using the file with only the butterfly body, place the wings over the placement line. Secure with masking tape, making sure not to tape over the stitching area of the body and antennae.

      Step 15

      - If your machine has a presser foot lift function, raise the foot to prevent it from catching on the wings or tape.

      Step 16

      - In this photo, you can see the correct positioning of the wings.

      Step 17

      - Notice that the adhesive tape is not covering the stitching areas for the antennae and body.

      Step 18

      - Embroidery completed. Now clean up the embroidery, remove the adhesive tapes, excess stabilizer, and loose threads.
