MATERIALS USED

FOR THE EMBROIDERY

- Tear-away stabilizer
- Felt (at least 10,23" x 10,23")
- Small sharp scissors
- Embroidery thread

CLOCK ASSEMBLY

- 1 Bamboo embroidery hoop 75,59"
- 1 MDF disk 7,87" x 7,87" with central hole
- 1 MDF disk 7,08" x 7,08" with central hole
- 1 Wall clock mechanism 8,66"
- 1 Set of clock hands for wall clock
- 1 AA battery
- 1 Paintbrush
- MDF glue
- White glue
- Heat-erasable pen
- Scissors
- Ruler or measuring tape

STEP-BY-STEP - STAGE 01

STEP 01

Complete all the embroidery on the chosen felt.

Use the heat-erasable pen to mark the center of the embroidered circle on the clock.

Note: Do not remove the stabilizer yet.

STEP 02

From the center mark, measure 5,11" 4 directions using the heat-erasable pen.

STEP 03

Use the markings from the previous step to draw a square.

Expected result: A square measuring 10,23" x 10,23"

STEP 04

Cut along the markings from the previous step.

STEP 05

Measure again from the center point, this time 3,77" and mark it with the pen.

STEP 05 – EXPECTED

Expected result after Step 05.

STEP 06

Place the inner ring of the hoop underneath the embroidered felt.

Align the felt with the markings close to the hoop to ensure it's centered.

STEP 07

Place the outer ring over the inner one and press to fit, carefully keeping the embroidery centered. Make sure the felt is stretched tightly.

STEP 08

Using fine-tipped scissors, cut a cross shape in the central circle and trim the excess felt as shown.

STEP 09

Trim the felt around the hoop as close to the wood as possible.

STEP 10

Apply white glue over the entire surface of the 7,08" x 7,08" MDF disk.

Spread the glue evenly, avoiding excess that could seep through the felt.

STEP 11

Attach the 7,08" x 7,08" disk (with glue side down) to the back of the embroidery and press lightly.

You may place a weight on top and let it dry.

STEP 12

Use a pencil to draw a cross on the 7,87" x 7,87" MDF disk to help center the clock mechanism.

STEP 13

Also make marks on the sides of the hoop to align the mechanism with the front of the clock.

STEP 14

Apply MDF glue around the outer edge of the hoop, taking care not to let it spill — this glue is strong.

STEP 15

Place the 7,87" x 7,87" MDF disk with the glue over the hoop, aligning with the previous marks.

Press lightly and let the glue set for about 5 minutes.

STEP 16

After gluing the 7,87" x 7,87" disk, mark where the top (number 12) should be to guide the mechanism placement.

CLOCK ASSEMBLY - STAGE 02

STEP 01

Apply a bit of MDF glue around the threaded area of the clock mechanism.

STEP 02

Insert the mechanism through the center hole of the disk, aligning it with the marking, and press to adhere. Let it dry for about 5 minutes.

Erase any pencil marks from the disk and hoop edges.

STEP 03

Place the washer first.

STEP 04

Add the nut and tighten.

STEP 05

Attach the hour hand, then the minute hand, and finally the second hand.

AND DONE!

We've completed our embroidered clock project!

Note: If any markings from the heat-erasable pen are still visible, you can remove them with a hairdryer.
