This project includes 3 designs: one with two hearts, one with a butterfly, and one with two flowers (referred to as “3D OBJECT”).

The first steps shown here are for the hearts design, where step 5 involves adding satin ribbons. For the butterfly and flowers designs, there is no ribbon, only the fabric placement.

STEP 01

- Hoop the tear-away stabilizer.

STEP 02

- Load the FRONT PIECE embroidery file onto the machine and stitch the placement lines.

STEP 03

- Place the 5,51" x 5,51" batting (R1) first, then the 5,51" x 5,51" cotton fabric over the placement line. Secure both with masking tape on the edges.

STEP 04

- Run the machine to stitch the fabric and batting down. After stitching, remove the masking tape and trim the excess fabric and batting.

STEP 05

- Position the two 1,96" satin ribbons over the marked heart shapes (3D OBJECT) and secure with masking tape.

- Place the two 1,96" x 1,96" cotton fabrics over the same area and tape them down as well.

(For the butterfly and flower designs, skip the ribbons — only place the 1,96" x 1,96" fabric.)

STEP 06

- Run the machine to stitch down the fabric for the 3D OBJECT. After stitching, remove the masking tape and trim the excess fabric.

STEP 07

- Check if the top thread matches the fabric color for the quilting step.

- Run the machine to stitch the quilting and the button placement mark.

STEP 08

- Keep the hoop in the machine and stitch the details inside the 3D OBJECT with your chosen thread color.

STEP 09

- Flip the hoop over and place a 5,51" x 5,51" cotton fabric on the back, securing with masking tape.

STEP 10

- Run the machine to stitch the fabric down. Remove the masking tape and trim the excess fabric and batting.

STEP 11

- Place a 1,96" x 1,96" cotton fabric on the marked 3D OBJECT area on the back and secure with masking tape.

STEP 12

- Stitch the fabric down. Remove the masking tape and trim the excess fabric.

STEP 13

- Insert the bobbin with the thread color that matches the next finishing step.

STEP 14

- Run the machine to complete the satin stitch (finishing stitch) around the design.

STEP 15

- Remove from the machine, unhoop, and tear away the stabilizer.

STEP 16

- Poke a small hole in the center of the button mark (indicated with an arrow).

STEP 17

- Attach the snap button.

→ Set this piece aside to use in the next steps.

Step by Step - Part 02

STEP 01

- Hoop the tear-away stabilizer.

STEP 02

- Load the BACK PIECE embroidery file onto the machine and stitch the placement lines.

STEP 03

- Place the 6,88"x5,51" batting (R1) and the 6,88"x5,51" cotton fabric over the placement line. Secure with masking tape and repeat the fabric placement steps from Part 1, Steps 3 and 4.

STEP 04

- Run the machine to stitch both pieces down. After stitching, remove the masking tape. Keep the same thread color from Part 1, Step 7 to stitch the needle pocket divisions (see Photo 01).

STEP 05

- Flip the hoop over and place another 6,88"x5,51" batting (R1) and 6,88"x5,51" cotton fabric on the back. Secure with masking tape and stitch them down. Remove tape and trim excess fabric and batting.

STEP 06

- Insert the bobbin with the thread color for the satin stitch.

STEP 07

- Run the satin stitch finishing step. After completion, unhoop, remove the stabilizer, and clean up the embroidery.

→ Set this piece aside for the next step.

STEP 08

- Return to the machine and finish the satin stitch.

- When this step is complete, remove the frame and remove the interfacing and clean the embroidery.

→ Set this piece aside for the next step.

Step by Step - Part 03

STEP 01

- Hoop the tear-away stabilizer.

STEP 02

- Load the FLAP embroidery file onto the machine and stitch the placement lines.

STEP 03

- Take the BACK PIECE prepared in Part 2 and align its top edge perfectly with the flap placement line on the hoop. Pin it close to the hoop edge to prevent shifting.

STEP 04

- Secure the edges with masking tape.

STEP 05

- Run the machine to stitch it in place and mark the flap. Remove the masking tape but do not remove the pin.

STEP 06

- Place the 5,51" x 3,54" batting (R1) and the 5,51" x 3,54" cotton fabric over the flap placement line. Secure with masking tape.

STEP 07

- Change the top thread to the color chosen for quilting and stitch the quilting along with the placement for the 3D OBJECTS:

- Hearts ribbons placement, or Butterfly placement, or Flower placement.

STEP 08

- Place the two heart pieces using the satin ribbons, crossing them as shown in the photo — one slightly shorter than the other. Secure with masking tape.

PICTURE 2

STEP 09

- Run the machine to stitch the ribbons down. Trim any ribbon excess after stitching.

STEP 10

- Run the machine to stitch the bow over the ribbons.

- Tape the two heart pieces down to prevent them from interfering with the satin stitch.

STEP 11

- After stitching the quilting and the 3D OBJECTS placement lines, trim the excess fabric and batting.

STEP 12

- Place the 3D OBJECT (butterfly or flower) onto the placement line and secure with masking tape. Run the machine to stitch it in place.

- For the butterfly, this will be the body; for the flower, it will be a circle.

- Do not remove the masking tape yet — it helps during the satin stitch.

STEP 13

- Flip the hoop over and place the 5,51" x 3,54" batting (R1) and 5,51" x 3,54" cotton fabric on the back. Secure with masking tape.

STEP 14

- Stitch it down. Remove the masking tape and trim the excess fabric and batting.

STEP 15

- Insert the bobbin with the thread color for the satin stitch.

STEP 16

- Run the satin stitch for the finishing. Once done, remove the pin, unhoop, remove the stabilizer, and clean the embroidery.

STEP 17

- Punch a small hole at the snap mark on the flap (just like you did for the FRONT PIECE) and attach the snap button.

Note: For the flower design, a flat-back pearl was used for the center of the flower.
