1 - Embroidery hoop compatible with the design size you chose
2 - Tear‑away stabilizer
3 - Baby towel or burp cloth of your choice
4 - Threads in the colors of the design
5 - Masking tape (or painter’s tape)
6 - Small trimming scissors
STEP 1
Mark the center of the towel or burp cloth where you want the embroidery to be.
Place the tear‑away stabilizer in the hoop and position the fabric on top.
Fold the left edge of the fabric toward the inside, so it meets approximately the middle of the marked embroidery area.
Smooth the fabric well and close the hoop securely.
ATTENTION: The folded tip of the towel stays inside the hoop, as shown in the picture.
STEP 2
With the hoop already closed and firm, pull the folded tip of the fabric up and over the front of the hoop to the outside, and secure it well with tape, leaving the embroidery area free.
STEP 3 (OPTIONAL)
Place a piece of heat‑soluble topping over the fabric, especially if you are embroidering on terry cloth towels.
STEP 4
On the machine, run a trace or check to make sure the entire embroidery area is completely free.
STEP 5
The needle must not hit or sew over the folded corner of the towel.
STEP 6
Stitch the design as usual until only the little left hand/paw of the chosen animal is left to embroider.
STEP 7
The machine will stitch a small placement mark where the little hand/paw will go.
STEP 8
Place the folded tip of the fabric over this mark. Hold it in place or secure it with tape, and return the hoop to the machine so it can stitch it down.
STEP 9
The machine will secure this folded tip with another line of stitching.
STEP 10
Trim away the small excess of fabric.
STEP 11
Embroider the remaining colors, following the color sequence of the design.
STEP 12
Remove the project from the hoop, clean up jump stitches and excess stabilizer, and it is ready.
It creates a fun little detail that can even be used to hold a pacifier or the baby’s lovey/blankie.
