Step by Step Borders Lace

MATERIALS

- Water-soluble stabilizer. We recommend light fabric-like stabilizers, such as Vilene and Freudenberg 541, which dissolve in warm water very quickly.
- Top thread of your color preference.
- The bobbin thread color should match the top thread color.
- Tape.
- Scissor.

STEP BY STEP

STEP 01

- layer of water-soluble stabilizer (optionally, 2 layers may be used)

STEP 02

- Match the bobbin and the top thread. Run the design in the machine until it finishes;
- Remove the hoop from the machine and cut the design out. Neatly trim the excess stabilizer.

STEP 03

- In order to create a continuous lace trim the embroidered pieces may be assembled using the sewing machine or the embroidery machine.

Continuous lace in the sewing machine:
- Repeat the Steps 1 and 2 until you get the desired lenght of the lace.
- When assembling the crochet parts, use a zig-zag stitch (3mm of length and 0.5mm of density) and the same thread with which you embroidered the design both for the needle and for the bobbin.
- Next, place the embroidered lace under warm running water to wash away the water-soluble stabilizer. To make the crochet lace soft, leave in a bowl with warm water for an hour.
Remove the lace from the water and allow it to dry out at room temperature. After that your crochet-style lace border is ready!

Continuous lace in the embroidery machine:
- After Step 2, hoop a new piece of water-soluble stabilizer;
- Align the previously embroidered part in the hoop in a way that the new part will be sewn together with the part that is already finished.
- Use the masking tape to help holding the lace in place;
- Run the design in the machine until it finishes.

STEP 04

- Repeat the Step 3 until you get the desired lenght of the lace.
- Next, place the embroidered lace under warm running water to wash away the water-soluble stabilizer. To make the crochet lace soft, leave in a bowl with warm water for an hour.
- Remove the lace from the water and allow it to dry out at room temperature. After that your crocet-style lace border is ready!
